The Prepress department process customer files ready for printing.
The files pass from the design departments Macs, where they have been checked for any errors*, to the dedicated computers that produce the PDFs, paginate the pages and RIP the files prior to producing proofs and then being sent to the CTP.
*Every effort is made at this stage to prevent errors in the final print. Usually, if the files have been prepared by the clients correctly, this stage only requires the files to be sent with the correct printer settings. We are trying to encourage clients to provide their own PDFs using our PPD file (Printer Description File) and Printer Style, more information and the files can be accessed from the File Guide.
